objects of virtue

Two of my pieces, a plate and jar, have been recently been accpeted into the show “Objects of Virtue” juried by Julia Galloway.  The show opens on December 2nd and runs through January at Bedford Gallery in norther California.  Check out the poster below, or click on the link for  a larger version.

a startled owl

Decorating forms I normally would never make is super exciting, hence collaboration.  The tea cup is designed by Ryan Fletcher and decorated by myself.  The startled owl is sculpted by Calder Kamin and decorated by yours truly.  These pieces are wonderfully fresh.

Here is my latest painting titled Los Reas.  Los Reas is an adorable little house in my neighborhood with quite some character.  I am going to put this picture in their mailbox with a note saying, “I think your house is cute”.

Here is my first painting completed in Kansas City.  I have ample time to work on artwork at home due to no television.  I saw this brick building around the corner from my home and was inspired to do some neighborhood paintings with subtle patterns.

The other day I had the idea of hiding my patterns and decoration, to create sweet surprises.  The form and color are subtle and simple but when the object is used the decoration unfolds.  These cups are the first of the series, more jars and plates to come!
